GEOSat channels problem

Hi Folks, :)

I gotta problem for ya, and I hope that any of you that uses GeoSat receiver, could help me with answers.

Okay, I'll do my best explaining the dilemma.

I hope you can try to follow my dilemma. There's no screen shot pictures,
and etc. that would've been help to see. But hope you'll get the picture as I explains.

I inserted the USB stick drive onto the rare end of the GeoSat receiver that has a USB port.
Then I was able to SAVE the "Defualtdb.ddf" which has the list of channels. So, I was able to
SAVE that file onto a USB stick drive. Got it???
Then, I took it to the laptop PC, with Windows XP Pro. SP3. And downloaded the Defualtdb.ddf
file. Then I open "AliEditor" program. Which I downloaded from GeoSat website.
Then it allow me to open a file, such as "Defualtdb.ddf".
So, I was able to open the Defualtdb.ddf to view list of channels that I had installed on GeoSat
receiver. I wanted to make changes, which I did, because when I installed satellite, I noticed that
I've installed the same satellite, 2 or 3 times. Oops!!! So, that was my first try. So, when I ntoce
the duplicates of satellites channels, I decided to delete some of the duplicates by using the AliEditor
tool.
So, I've done that changes. So, NO duplicate channels.
Now, which format am I suppose to "Export" the changes???

Here's the problem that I'm expericing..

What SAVE type as??? Am I supoose to save as in "ddf"???
The NEW name for the save file is "Userdb". And the first option it brings up is
to save as in "ddf".
IF so, I've already did that, and I SAVED onto a USB stick drive, and took it over to the
GeoSat, and download my newest "Userdb.udf" and what happen was once I downloaded
into the GeoSat receiver, it reboot, and all the sudden it shows the menu and it says
"No channel" and "No Satellilte".
So, what I did was for an EMERGENCY was to download the "AlCode.abs" to get it back to
where it to begin with. Whew, that was a close one!!! ;)

Now, IF I want to put my own "FIXED" channels with no dublicates, what type of save as
am I supose to save???
If I save as open BIN file, abs, it won't let me to.. It pops up a message that says
"Not support Save udf as abs file."

IF I Save it as in "ddf", it saved, but when I installed in the GeoSat, rebooted it, and NOTHING
happening. All I see is the same with the original channels from the "AlCode.abs". So, that
ddf file I created didn't effect any changes.

So what did I do wrong???

I know I fixed the list of channels by removed or deleted the duplicated channels.
NOT satellites.

Okay??? Can you help me?? I hope that I'll understand you.

Watching a video on YouTube or from GeoSat site, are difficult to see in detailed.

Hope all helps with answers.

Thank you,
Eugene

[GEOSATpro] MicroHD can't decode video on this transponder...

OK, on 99.2W G16 C-band, there is a new "My Family" that just popped up.
Code:

3790/H/1666 V49/A52/P49 Fec 5/6
DVB-S (QPSK) Labeled as: "Service 3 MPEG4 S". 90% signal, 71% quality. I'm using the MicroHD receiver. I get the audio, but VIDEO is completely BLACK! "Video Resolution" says: "By Source".

As for my X2 HD receiver, this channel scans in perfectly, BOTH audio and video!

X2 HD wins this one.

Brian, can you check this out and find out why the MicroHD can't get video on this? It's running the latest firmware.

I was wondering if there is a specialized ALI Editor for this product, or if the one used with say, the Openbox or the MicroHD would work just as well?

Yep. Boot looped it already. (MircoHD)

Really wished I would have read some of the receiver support section before the fact... <---Cap'n Hindsight!

I put a heart beside 53W and did a scan. Got Canal 27... Decided to remove the heart beside this sat and BAM! It's all over til I can order a cable.

Such a silly mistake to cause so much trouble. I suppose if you don't delete the scanned in channel before removing the "heart" this is what you get.

Guess I'll just hook up the SV360 for now and deal with it's frustration. I really hate that thing!

[Fortec] Is there any active Ku band transponders on 81°W Galaxy 9?

Is there any active Ku band transponders on 81°W Galaxy 9 that I can use to align my dish? The reason I ask is because that is my True South position, and I'm trying to align my dish as accurate as possible. Or can I use 83.0°W AMC 9 instead?

[GEOSATpro] Avoiding the boot loop

If I follow the instructions in the "How to avoid the MicroHD "Boot Loop" by properly updating your firmware (and still keeping your old channel and satellite lists)" sticky above, will I then be immune from boot loops?

I've had to rescue the MicroHD several times after going into boot loops following edits of the channel database in a PC.

As a result, I haven't touched any of the update functions since the Jan 31 firmware.

Now I have a C-band dish and more programming, I want to start renaming channels, sorting them and putting them into favorites lists .... but I'm scared to do that because of the boot loop hassle.

Would that sticky solve it? Or do I need to update the firmware and store everything again from scratch?

Cheers,

[GEOSATpro] microHD-Ku dish moving to first active sat in list

$

This has probably been covered before but i was unable to find it with a search...

No matter what satellite I have selected on the receiver (C or Ku) whenever I go to Menu->Installation->TP List that screen shows 30W ku and my Ku dish moves to the first active satellite in my Sat List, Hispasat @ 30W Ku in my case. 30W is diseqc 1.2 in my setup, all other ku sats are USALS.

For instance, last night I had my BUD at 101W (watching Star Trek on MeTV) and my Ku dish was aimed at 125W, went to TP List to see if I had any inactive tps on 101W C-band to delete, and the TP comes up showing 30W Ku and starts moving the ku dish to 30W.

As far as I know it has always done this, I have had my microHD for several months but have just been using it to control my main c/Ku setup for a month or so. Why isn't the presently selected sat (101W C-band) shown in the tp list when you bring it up, rather than 30W ku?

Think I have the latest firmware installed, and don't remember if I had this issue with earlier firmware versions. Hoping this is not an "undocumented feature", or another unfixable Ali chip quirk.

[AZBox] Please Help! pumpKIN not working for me on AZ Recovery

$

Hi Folks,

My AZ Premium-HD finally quit booting, I just got the FTDI TTL-232-5V cable in yesterday. AZ's been
acting up for a while now, having to reboot from "Format HDD" option was best.

I am following Radar's recovery procedures to the tee, but KIN PumpKIN is giving me the stonewall!

I am able to use PuTTy up to the point where PumpKIN is needed, but can't get PumpKIN to save the
file-path to the recovery files folder.

My problem with pumpKIN is when I go to "Get File", the Fetch-File window won't save the path, but rather
wants to save the file. I get told that the "file already exists, do you want to replace it?". Selecting either
Yes or No leaves me stranded with not having the file path saved to do the transfer. I have tried to shorten
the path by putting the folder onto my desktop, but still no-go.

Is there a setting in PumpKIN that I've missed?, is the program fouled in some way? Could there be a
Windows setting that I don't know about?

Is there a better, or easier TFTP application that I could use?

My PC is running WinXP Pro, Service pack 3, up to date. 2GHz Athlon Dual core, 2Gb ram.

Please help, the Wifey is missing out on a bunch of S2-8PSK channels that my older, back-up
tuner won't touch! :(

Thanks in advance, --Kevin--

[GEOSATpro] Locking channel names in MicroHD

$

Is there a way I can stop the MicroHD from overwriting channel names?

I've renamed lots of channels from things like "Service 2" to "Univision WY" but that now means I cannot blind scan the satellite without losing them.

The "lock channel name" feature in the Mediabox Editor ("The official editor of the MicroHD") appears to get ignored. I think I was once told to make the service ID "0" in the ALI Editor, but I think last time I did that I boot-looped the box.

If there is a way of doing this from the remote control, without touching a PC editor, I would be very pleased.

I've never posted a single negative comment about this box or it's development/developer.

I want :

1 Ability to delete satellite (all transponders)

2 Ability to delete single transponder. Every other box I own did these both with first factory bin. And no, I do not want to use the stb editor

3 Network streaming; Since this only works with linux, I would like to see you write up a complete tutorial on this . I just put LMDE on a spare laptop, so tell me exact steps on stb and linux computer to get this working.

4 Fix Pixl's diseqc problem before he get's rid of his second box LOL :D

[GEOSATpro] Alternative method to get rid of the MicroHD "jitter"

$

Maybe you've been there before. There you are, flipping between sports feeds, or recording one channel while watching another recording you made earlier when suddenly, the strobe action begins. The sound is ok, and if you're recording, the playback is perfectly fine, too. However, the picture is stuttering, as if it's going in slow motion or just getting a few frames per second, and all the on-screen menus also have that troublesome twinkling effect. It's a case of the MicroHD jitters.

Until now, I had to debate what to do: 1. ignore the jitters and let my box finish the recording; or more likely, 2. miss a minute or so of my recording or program watching to reboot the MicroHD. Both are frustrating.

Now keep in mind, I'm using an old analogue TV, so I don't know how this would work on another type set, but I imagine it would be the same; Instead of rebooting the next time you get the jitters, do this:

1. Go to the menu by pressing "Menu." (Yes, you can do this while recording. Although most options won't be available to you, some are still selectable.)
2. Go down twice to select the 3rd icon shaped like a gear (System settings).
3. Choose "TV System" (the 2nd item in the right hand list).
4. Change the Video Resolution to any other mode and press OK.
5. The jitters have gone! I now change it back to my regular resolution and exit the menus.

I just discovered this last night, and it will save so much time now that I know this little trick :)

Pansat 9200

I have a Pansat 9200 that I have had for afew years now and it works fine most of the time. Problem that I am having now is with the Esata drive and it being recognized by the receiver.
it worked a few years ago for the most part (does not record ota channels when programmed correctly) but because you have to have a blank receiver when you connect the PVR I did not
want to clear all the stuff in the receiver out.
I was doing a scan a few days ago and when it had gotten done the receiver cleared all the memory out for me so I tried to connect the PVR but the receiver does not recognize it.
The correct way to connect the PVE is to clear all the memory (go back to factory settings) turn power off to receiver, connect esata cable to both units, turn power on to drive first then
turn power on to receiver.
Done that. still does not recognize drive.
Any suggestions? Also would like to know how I can reformat drive to DR-Dos2. I have not formatted this drive to anything but I am thinking that maybe the drive might need it.
Thanks for your help.

Winegard SF 1000 Sat Finder causing interferrence ??

I ran into a weird problem when I installed my Micro HD Geosat Pro receiver. I have this connected to a SG6100 DiSEqC H-H Mount. I put my SF 1000 signal strength meter in series with the LNBF and the SG6100 to tweek the antenna. The SF 1000 worked like its supposed to, but I noticed that when I told the receiver to move to another satellite (USALS) the dish would not move. Take the sig meter out and the dish moves just fine. Put the meter back in and at one point, the dish moved a couple of degrees all by itself, which resulted in the USALS calculations not being right anymore.
I had to do a factory reset on the receiver and start all over again to get things back in sync. Something definitely whacky going on when I put this meter on. Do I have a bum meter; wrong type of meter; or whats going on here?

MicroHD vs USALS

I'm confused about my situation with the MicroHD not being able to operate or communicate with Motor. I've had this unit for over a year with no problems until now. Yesterday I switched to my Manhattan and everything worked just fine. I did notice, when I was using the Micro, that I had no juice going into the motor. Will a factory reset take care of this issue?
