How to change blue left & right edge background in 4x3 aspect video in DVR playback mode?

$

When I play back 4 x 3 aspect formatted video (old tv shows) in dvr mode, the left and right boxed sides are BLUE. Is there any way to change them to black? Or is blue "safer" to stop the possibility of any sort of screen burn-in on an hd tv? If that's so, then I'm ok with leaving it blue as long as I know that.

I prefer to leave shows in their original aspect ratio, and do NOT want to change them to full-screen, as I can't stand "stretch-o-vision".

No wrenchs or spanners!!

OK, I'm stupid - - - don't do what I did!@!! :(

I was using my microHD to point my 10 foot Channel Master outside - - and without thinking used a 7/16 wrench to tighten the COAX. Of course I broke the middle wire solder inside the microHD. I had to take it apart and solder it back - - - which I'm terrible at.

One thing I did to make it a bit stronger was I took an old ring off an old ATI All-in-Wonder and screwed it onto the back on the microHD COAX connector. This made is just a bit more stable.

Learn from my mistake never, never, never use a wrench or as the British say "spanners" on your coax on a receiver. Hand tight is just fine.

Anyone know how to get this function to operate properly? Thanks

32APSK / MIS / VCM Support Announcement

We regret to report that we will not be supporting reception of 32APSK, MIS or VCM on the microHD platform.

After extensive testing and working with ALI and our factory engineer, we have decided to cease development for reception of 32APSK, MIS and VCM. Due to unforeseen technical limitations of a hardware component, we have experienced issues that prevent the inclusion of these advanced features in the final manufactured product. On a closed bench, we have completed successful testing. In real world transmissions, we experienced signal variables that prevented reliable reception.

We regret if the failure to support these signal types causes any inconvenience. We remain committed to further development of the microHD in many other areas to provide an excellent experience for both advanced hobbyists and FTA beginners.

If you have an HD plasma scan this satellite right now...unless you are prone to epilepsy. I've never seen such a good video on my TV before. I'd like to know the bitrate if anybody can figure it out.

Tuning LPBS on 87W

I've mentioned before about the MicroHD's difficulty in tuning LPBS off 87W. I took my cell phone and videoed the behavior.

It will lock almost immediately, then the signal will break then lose lock. After a few seconds the signal will snap back and hold a good lock.

Anyone else see this specific behavior? I'm using a 90cm GeosatPro dish with the SL1PLL LNBF. All other channels on this sat and other ku sats seem to tune OK and none act this way. It does this practically every time I tune to this transponder from another transponder.

Any thoughts? I'm thinking it may be causing some DVR issues with missed recordings.

My settings

I have not yet done a firmware update of my microhd reciever but now have my channel list motor settings etc. the way I want them. I saved my present settings as my default. If I do a factory reset after a firmware update will it use my present default or will it revert back to the default that the reciever came with?

Regards

Could someone test this?

I have a theory that the microHD is somehow limited to plus or minus 60 degrees of your true south location. Even if you select DisEqc 1.2 it will not got further east or west of the USALS limit.

i have not proved this yet - - - that is why I'm asking. But on my S9 and SonicView I could get 15W but no matter what I do with the micro HD I cannot drive that Far East.

My longitude in 078W and thus using my theory - - - I cannot get any further east than 018W.

BTW, when I select "Limit Setup" it is currently set to Disable Limit.

I think I could prove this but wanted to ask first.

TIA

As the title suggests, my microhd is in a boot loop after I removed a sat from the list and the scanned in channel was on. This is a stupid problem. Any ideas?

I can't seem to scan these in on my microHD except for the one labeled CW Plus MPEG-2 which is on a different transponder.

Since you said you did not have to do manual pid entry too much you explained it well that if you only had yours hooked to ku then you would not have to do it too often I guess.
Looking at your listing you posted I saw many C-band signals from Galaxy 16 on your list so I just assumed you also had C-band but noticed what was not there.
And what was not there (on the list you posted) needed some manual pid entry to pull everything in.

Not much different than some other receivers I have tested here, but the Azbox always pulled them in with no problem.

I do like the way it plays eScapes, much nicer then some other receivers. No more jerky picture there.

I've been getting jerky pictures on a lot of transponders. SQ is >60.

Endless Boot issue yuck!

Well I went to add a few channels to my Micro using the Ali editor today and something corrupted my .udf file so I'm stuck in the boot mode. Weird thing was all I did was edit a few channels and uploaded the info to the Micro which I've done lots of times with no issue. Luckily I have a spare Micro so I hooked it up and I tried to load the file in it...bad idea it's in a loop now too. I ordered the cable from Dave K4est so we'll see what happens. I noticed the cable isn't for Windows 8..I've got Windows Vista and Win 7 on other machines so I guess I try them. Question is have I lost all my channel info I had stored on the usb since the file corrupted? If so that's gonna be a lot of work reloading all the info. Thanks Jeff AKA Blind

Tuning the New Channel on 101w C-band TP Freq. 3961

Now that Lyngsat has listed this new channel, we are free to discuss an issue in the public forum.

Several users have reported an problem with watching the new service on TP Frequency 3961. The channel is displayed the first time the channel is viewed, but then after watching Me TV on transponder frequency 3974 the 3961 channel when selected now is black with no Video or Audio and the V and A PIDs have changed.

At first I thought that the PIDs were not correctly saved, but after analyzing the user database file, I have determined that the data is saved correctly, but it is being updated when returning to watch the channel. Narrowed down part of the problem... and rarely would I call this a problem. The tuner might be a little too sensitive on the microHD and the AFT circuit might be set too wide! :D

Both of these can be called "Strengths" and "Features" of the microHD, except when the planets align....

The problem appears to be that there are now two channels are using the same polarity, both are identified as SID #1 and the transponders are only separated by 13MHz. When the microHD retunes the new channel on 3961MHz, the tables from 3974 update the PIDs. This is usually not a problem as broadcasters on adjacent transponders typically do not use the same SID or PIDs to avoid this type of issue.

When we either attenuate the IF signal or narrow the automatic fine tuning circuit, the tuner does not attempt to lock onto the ME TV transponder when tuning Movie! channel and the table does not update with new PIDs.

We may chose to update the firmware to narrow the AFT circuit or provide a SID lock feature to prevent PID updating. Reviewing the options and will announce in a few days the best solution that we will implement.
